Critical CSS cron does not start

    My critical CSS cron list keeps growing but is never run. While image optimization works OK and cron works there, critical CSS tasks accumulate but never run. They also do not show up on QUIC cloud task list.

    On a separate theme, I feel we are left a little neglected with the V4 announcements and delays, Github commits and releases completely unaligned with WordPress repository etc.

  • Hi,

    1) Please try manually run the cron and see if the files are created. Go to the dashboard and click “force cron” under “Critical CSS”. If successful, then the problem is with the cron. Please install the “WP Control” plugin, if you haven’t already, to diagnose what’s wrong with the cron.
    2) If “force cron” doesn’t work, either. Then, there must be something wrong in the process. In such case, please enable Debug Log and then click “force cron” to have the log generated. Study the log and you’ll find the error there.

    To enable debug log, go to LiteSpeed Cache Toolbox –> [6] Debug Settings, turn “Debug Log” on and set “Debug Level” to “Advanced”.

    Please give a try and see if you can resolve this issue yourself.

    currently I got 14 css enqueued. Once I click “force cron” (God knows how many times I did it already) the LSCache Dashboard reloads (as expected) and 14 css qre still in queue. No trace of file creation in site files and no trace of activity in my quic.cloud dashboard as well (CSS Opt. 0%).

    The cron itself works OK, as LSCache image optimization works perfectly (I got some 16k images optimized in May and currently my quic.cloud shows 20% image optimization usage.

    I turned on the debug logging and while I am not sure I can read it, here’s what happens when I click “force cron”:

    The above is with default loglevel, once I turn on “advanced” I can not find any mention of “litespeed_type=generate_critical” (which is, I assume, a sign of reaction to “force cron”) in the logs.

    Only two things catch my attention in advanced logging mode:

    In this case, please update the LSCache plugin to our latest version. The latest GitHub Dev Commit is V4.1-rc27. Official release of V4.1 is coming soon.
