In WordPress 4.1, editing a draft via Chrome browser in Windows 7, it is possible to lose a draft if the contents of the Visual editor contain a specific type of special character. Basically, the character is an iPhone Emoji.

I had sent an email to a company for support from my iPhone and I used an Emoji that does not show up when it reaches the PC. When you view the sent email from the PC, in Gmail, the Emoji shows up as a square. (??) I copy and pasted the entire email into WordPress because it was to me the basis for a blog post I was authoring.

However, I lost 80% of my work due to a bug. If this character is included in a WordPress Draft, when the user clicks [Save Draft] they will find that absolutely everything after the special character will be DISCARDED. There is no way to undo the damage. This bug can reproduced over and over.

I consider this critical because making sure that an author’s work is not destroyed in any way should be priority #1.
