i would also like to see support for taking CC payments – that would complete ‘close the loop’ and allow WOO to offer a complete solution for the right small businesses.

There is no direct support for card readers yet, unless you have a card reader that can popular a web form.

Communicating with USB or Bluetooth is not possible directly via the browser at the moment, that sort of interaction requires a native app installed with permissions. This is something I am working towards but it requires another layer of development so I won’t be able to start until the base web app is up to a decent level.

Hey, I noticed on the woocommerce POS page that said the free version comes with a credit card gateway for EXTPOS and in a post under it about a month ago you wriote that the free wooPOS does come with payment gateway pos_card that works with an external credit card terminal. Is there a working reader or terminal now? Which one is it? Thanks for the awesome app, you’re amazing.

I have been looking into using a card reader. It is pretty easy with some JS and a USB reader. At the moment the easiest method is to click a button that puts the focus on a hidden field. Then you swipe the card and the JS extracts the data. I think there should be a method of grabbing the input by device. The POS would always be watching the reader for output so you could swipe at any time. This could give you the capability of having a reader customer side and allowing them to swipe at any time.
