Since April 5th 2022 I got orders with the comment (in backend/orders):

Could not process order. No PayPal order found in the current WooCommerce session.

2 customers described that after giving all the credit card information and clicking “buy now” (blue PayPal button), nothing happened.

I tried myself with 2 different logged-in users:
    – 1 with a Thai address and Thai-bank account, where the business and its PayPal-account is located using THB as currency and
    – 1 with a German address and 2 different German bank accounts using EUR as currency.

    All efforts failed!

If I use the “Debit or Credit Card” button, it is exactly as my customers stated: Nothing is happening.

When I used the “normal” PayPal button and then chose “Pay with Debit or Credit Card”, I got these messages:

Unfortunately, a problem has occurred. Try again.” or
We weren’t able to add this card. Check all the details are correct and try again or try a different card.

I checked forth and back and since I tried with 3 different cards from 3 different banks, I’m sure I didn’t repeatedly make any mistake.

BUT: When I tried, the order never got through, so all attempts do not even show in the backend/orders.

    Things I’ve tried so far:

    – deactivating all plugins (except Woocommerce and PayPal),
    – using another theme,
    – using the other (older and out-dated) PayPal plugin “WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway”,
    – rollback to an older version of the PayPal plugin,

and I was always logged in and I did NOT click the “for a second visible Woocommerce payment button” but made sure I only clicked the real PayPal button(s).

Nothing helped, paying with credit just does not work at all.

I saw that many seem to have the same or a similar problem, but I did not find any solution that worked.

This is very urgent, I hope someone can help asap.
    Thank you.

  • Disable vaulting on your paypal plugin settings, I was having the same issues.

    Vaulting
Enable saved cards and subscription features on your store. To use vaulting features, you must enable vaulting on your account.

This section is NOT ticked in my settings, so it is already disabled, right?

I would deactivate the plugin and reactive it and hit save after.

    Hi @giraffe75,

If Vaulting is unchecked in the plugin, then the feature is disabled.
Failed orders with the message “No PayPal order found in the current WooCommerce session” could have multiple causes. For example, when the buyer clicks the “Place order” button before the PayPal smart buttons are loaded. The latest version 1.7.1 (which was released on 06.04) improved the logic to hide the regular “Place order” button sooner and prevent buyers from creating a failed order by clicking the “wrong” button.

But we are not seeing any issues of this kind relating to the standard credit card smart button as pictured in the first screenshot here: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-paypal-payments/#paypal-card-processing-acdc
Have you tried it with a PayPal Sandbox account connected to rule out eventual issues with the seller account?

Messages like this “We weren’t able to add this card. Check all the details are correct and try again or try a different card.” are usually coming directly from within the PayPal interface and not the plugin. So when in doubt, I would recommend additionally reaching out to the PayPal MTS.
If you have Logging enabled in the plugin settings, then PayPal could check the transactions from their end with the help of the logged Debug id: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-paypal-payments/#troubleshooting

But our first recommendation would be to give it a try with a Sandbox account and testing cards.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

Thank you very much for your efforts to help. (I already had tried all of your recommendations.)

Now I have to apologize, the reason for the failed credit card payments is:

PayPal Thailand (where I have the business and PayPal account) has discontinued the ability to receive credit card payments!
(It has been possible in the past though.)

In my defense I have to say: I did contact PayPal prior to start asking in the wordpress forum:

My question to PayPal (over my account, so directly to PayPal Thailand):

“Before I get through the much more complicated troubleshooting with Woocommerce, can you confirm, that there is no problem with PayPal and that payment with credit card should work just fine? The website is: https://moleculepants.com Thank you.”

And I got this answer from PayPal:

“Hello S.A. My name is XXX. Let me assure you that I do not saw any restrictions on your PayPal account to complete a payment.
If your customers are having issues sending payments, I suggest to send them an invoice for you to receive the payments they want to send.
You can bill your customer by sending an invoice through your PayPal account.

Your customer can choose to pay you either through PayPal or by credit or debit card. …”

(BTW, I had already tried to send an invoice – my customer wasn’t able to pay via credit card as well.)

Yesterday I contacted PayPal again and then I got a very different answer:

“Hello, Thanks for reaching out to PayPal. My name is XXX.
Guest checkout payment is currently disabled in PayPal Thailand. You may need to advice your clients to make the payment with a PayPal account.
If they do not want to create a PayPal account the payment coming directly from the card will not go through as that will be considered a payment from guest or guest checkout. …”

I’m really sorry to have wasted your (and my) time.

    Thanks again for the support,
    Giraffe75
