Creating Website in wordpress but already created the same in google sites

  • Hi all,

    I have purchased a domain xyz.com through google.
    I created my website https://www.xyz.com using google sites.
    But later on I came to know that I can create a professional site in wordpress and bought hosting xyz.com from bluehost.
    i have done all the installation procedure for wordpress and can edit my site.
    but the problem is whenever i type in the URL https://www.xyz.com it opens as sites.google.com/a/xyz.com and shows the site i have created through google sites, not through wordpress.
    I want my website to appear as https://www.xyz.com and it should be what i have created in wordpress, not google sites.
    Any kind of help will be appreciated as I feel I am lost since I have paid for my domain as well as hosting.

    I think you need to point your domain’s nameserver to the hosting you have bought.

    Hello Usman,
    Thanks for your help.

    I bought my domain from godaddy.com.
    What I basically understand now is I need to change name server in godaddy to bluehost’s name server. Am I right?

    Will this solve my issue? Or I need to do anything else after that?

    It will take some time in pointing new nameservers, and when it will be done I am sure this will solve your problem.

    After new nameservers, what will happen to the website I created in google sites?

    Hello Antaratara,

    Yes, you just need to change the name servers and it will take sometime for the new name servers to be propagated properly.

    Once you have successfully switched the name servers to bluehost then your domain will reflect the new website you have on bluehost and the old website on google will still be at google but you won’t access it using your domain unless you will configure a sub-domain for it.
