Creating tables in header of Twenty Eleven theme

I’m working with the Twenty Eleven theme and I’d like to replace the header with a table – the left side being a static logo and the right side being a slide show plugin. Can someone explain what code will need to be removed from the header and where the table html should go? And if I use a table will that stop the site from being responsive. Also what is the best way to add the slideshow?
