• I need to develop my site at a separate URL so the public does not have access to it until it is complete. Once it is complete I want to replace the static index.html page that is currently up with the new WordPress site. I have created a “test” folder within my main URL folder. Is this correct? And if so, what do I do next? If not correct, what should I do?

Thank you. This looks like it might be the info I need and I’ll tackle it tomorrow. Have you done this before if I run into trouble?

Not exactly the same. I develop on my local PC and move to a public host. The process is similar, but not identical.

Here’s what I ended up doing which seems to work (although am having new problem with a white screen):
Created new folder “test” on server
Filled in the path to that folder in the admin “settings” panel in WP dashboard.
