    Hello support,

We are using WordPress 5.2.2 with NextGen 3.2.10 plug-in.

We have a problem in “Manage Galleries” when trying to use the Bulk Action option “Create new thumbnails”. After selecting all images in the gallery and pressing the “Apply” button, nothing happens, and the screen is re-shown with the existing thumbnails unchanged.

Previously we used to see a “progress bar” showing the progress of this bulk action on all images in the library, but now this progress bar is not showing at all.

When I try the same action on our test site, which is exactly the same WP/NextGen/Theme versions the progress bar appears as expected and the thumbnails regenerated ok.

Any idea how we can fix this issue?

    Many thanks.

  • Hello @yuvalp,

This seems pretty unusual; let’s check for existing conflicts.
Perhaps something is being cached? Please, try to deactivate any endurance cache in your server as well.

1.- Temporarily deactivate all your plugins except NextGen Gallery.

2.- Is the problem solved? Then, it was caused by one of your plugins. Please check one by one and find the one causing the problem.

3.- If the problem is not solved with the deactivation of the plugins, try changing to a standard WordPress theme, it could be a conflict with your current theme.

Please let us know how it goes.

Note: We recommend performing a full website backup before troubleshooting.

    Hi @gabyimagely

Thanks for your response, but I still can’t get it to work.

I’ve switched off the Cache plug-in (W3 Total Cache), but it doesn’t seem to fix the problem.

Just to make clear – I have two sites: one live site (https://matzpen.org) and a test site (https://beta.matzpen.org). Both of them are identical in terms of the Theme (Avada 5.9.1) and all plug-in’s. I made sure all (WP/Theme/Plug-ins) are on the same version.

In the test site there’s no problem and I can re-generate the thumbnails as expected. On the live site it doesn’t work. So, I don’t think it can be anything to do with incompatible Theme or plug-in’s…

Any other thing I can check?

Do you think I might need to re-install NextGen?
If I remove NextGen and then re-install it, would I loose any of the images or their title/descriptions? Would I loose any of the settings of NextGen, like the Custom CSS and other settings?

    Appreciate your help,
    Many thanks,
    Yuval.

    Hi @yuvalp

Is there any difference between your testing and live site?
What you can do is compare the site details obtain of your “Site Health” tool if you are using a recent version of WordPress.

Find that on Tools > Site Health
Click on the “Info” tab, and then click again on “Copy site info to clipboard”. You can then compare if there is any different setting between both sites.

Another thing you can try is to remove and re-insert the gallery display to see if that fixes the problem.

    – Yes, you can try to re-install NextGen Gallery. That’s one of the steps to test if everything is ok (to discard corrupted files).

    – Removing NextGen Gallery shouldn’t be a problem, but we always recommend performing a full website backup.

    – You should save your CSS editions before making any modification, are those editions inside NextGen Gallery style customization function?

    Please, keep us posted.

    Hi @gabyimagely

I have produced the two text files of Site Health data for the Live and Beta sites. It looks to me there’s no substantial difference that might indicate whats going on… I wanted to share with you, but can’t see an option to “Attach” files here…

Regarding your suggestion to remove and re-insert the gallery display – I can’t see how this is relevant to my problem. Regardless of the Posts and Pages where this gallery is inserted, the issue is with the back-end management of the thumbnail size, regardless of where this gallery is published. Or am I missing anything?

Please let me know what you think, before I take the drastic option of deleting NextGen and then re-installing the plug-in (which will be a major disruption for our site…).

Thanks again for helping us out.

    Hi @yuvalp,

Thanks for all the details and I think that the next thing that I would try is to manually reinstall NextGen Gallery. This shouldn’t disrupt the site for long ( maximum 5 minutes depending on the server’s speed ) and you can also put the site in “Coming Soon” mode during the re-installation to make sure that none of your site’s visitors will see the gallery textual shortcodes instead of the galleries.

    I hope this will help

Because it has been a month or more since your last reply, I am going to mark this as resolved as I assume you have found a solution. Please feel free to reply again if you still have questions.

    Thanks!
