I’m trying to test my ticket payment system with a PayPal sandbox account and I’m running into the following error message: “Creating new PayPal order failed. Please try again.” when I click the PayPal button. I disconnected and then reconnected my PayPal account. I also tried upgrading my PHP version from 7.4 to 8.0 but nothing is working. Is there a fix for this?

    Thanks

  • Hey @haldav,

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing the issue with PayPal.

The most common fix for your issue is to reset the connection. You might want to try to reset the connection again. Before doing so, it is probably a good idea to clear any caches you have active.

Just to cover our bases here: you need a PayPal business account in order to use PayPal with Event Tickets.

Sometimes when I run into problems with PayPal like this I establish a new sandbox to work with.

A possibility: In the WordPress Dashboard, can you go to Tickets > Settings > General tab to see if you have the “Require users to log in before they purchase tickets” option enabled? If enabled, the attendee will be required to log in before they can make a purchase.

It is very important that you check for theme and plugin conflicts as theme and plugin conflicts are the source of many issues in WordPress: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/testing-for-conflicts/

    Hope this helps!

    Best!

Thanks for your reply but none of these things worked. I don’t know what to do here.

Hi @haldav, no worries. Apologies for the delay here.

I am curious whether you are using Tickets Commerce. See the article here on how to set it up with PayPal.

Also, could you test another account to see if that works? You can also check the URL here on how to Troubleshoot Tickets Commerce. Most of our users encountered these known issues here.

I also tried upgrading my PHP version from 7.4 to 8.0 but nothing is working. Is there a fix for this?

It would be good to revert to PHP 7.4 as we still have limited support for PHP 8.x.x. Rest assured that we’re also working on this.

Let us know how it goes.
