• Hello, I would like to have each of my recipes on my food blog on a different page so that the home page has a summary and small picture of each recipe and when you click the recipe it takes you to a new page. I don’t like how much content is currently on my home page. My home screen is not currently a page (I don’t see it listed under pages). Do I need to create a page and then create subpages for each recipe? I am not sure how best to do this.

    Thank you!

  • Bsperta,

If you go into the admin panel to Settings > Reading under the For each article in a feed, show… you want to put that on “Summary” instead of “Full Text”. You can even limit the amount of posts shown if you want. On the same page, “Blog pages show at most” change the number to whatever you’d like. Since I can’t see the admin side of your site I’m guessing that latest posts is set as your homepage.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Nlmosler,

I had already checked the box to show summary only and for some reason it didn’t change anything. Do you know why this may be? Is there another setting I need to change as well? I’m currently creating all my new recipes as new posts on my home page.

    Thank you!

    Bsperta,

If that’s the case, you can do this inside the post. I know it’s a pain to have to do this with every post but it will give you more control over where you want to leave people.

In the post editor, on the top line under “add media” there is an icon with two solid bars broken by a dotted line in the middle. That button allows you to insert a “Read More” button wherever you would like.

Unless your theme has a setting for excerpt and characters to show then this would be a solution to try.
