Creating horizontal space between content in columns

  • 3 questions:

    1. How can I create horizontal space between content in each column? I have my column split 50/50 but they touch in the middle – how do I create a gap between the boxes here: https://184.154.224.5/~usherbra/about/

    2. How do I adjust the size of the background image? Do I have to upload the image at the exact size I want or is there a way for it to fit (even if it has to crop) to the size I want the image to be?

    3. How do i remove the white space at the top and bottom of the page?
