Creating custom Page Templates

I am looking to include a custom page template with the plugin i am creating. What i have in mind is that i keep the custom post page within my plugin directory as opposed to having to copy the file to the themes directory. I’m not quite sure if this is possible so i am looking for any leads. I want to be able to use it on the add page drop down menu for page_template. Any advice or link?
