Creating 'blocks' and 'regions'

  • I’m new to WordPress, let me say first. I normally use Drupal, but I decided to try WordPress out.
    The problem is, I have no idea how to create what are called ‘blocks’ and ‘regions’ ,in Drupal, in WordPress. Is there another name for them? If so, can someone explain the basics of creating them? Thanks very much
