    Hi everyone,
Sorry if the question sounds stupid, I’m completely new to WP. I installed WP on my Wamp local server and after I design the site I’ll be transferring the files to the client’s live server. I’m confused about the Database name, username, password and host part to create the wp-config.php file. Since it is on my local server do I give them any name I want or do I need to get such information from client’s hosting service?

  • Put the database information for the remote server as it’s where WordPress will run and will mean you don’t need to copy the database =)

If you want to test completely locally however, you’ll need to setup a local database and transfer it to the server afterwards.

Yes I’ll be completely testing locally. Once it is completely finished and I make sure everything works fine I’ll transfer it to a live server. So I’ll be setting up the Database name, username, password and host locally and then transfer it?

    Yes
