Creating a wordpress theme( First time )

    I have a great theme in mind that I would like to create. Just some questions first.
    1. Do I need to code the theme in pure XHTML or can I use some of HTML5 simpler syntax like, <!doctype html>, <style></style>, <meta charset=”UTF-8″ ect…. .
    2. My theme will rely mostly on the use of circles. From what I read on Google its possible to create nice circles with CSS3. Will this be compatible with wordpress? And if I use some CSS3 do I HAVE to use the HTML5 doc-type then?
    3.I never done this before so any ideas on tutorials and tools to use would be great.( Im on windows 7 btw ).

    1. You can code in any markup language. It doesn’t even have to be valid.

    2. WordPress is compatible with all versions of CSS.

    3. At which stage are you?
