HI everybody, I have been living under a rock and haven’t done much research into WP. Pardon me for my ignorance, but I’d be very grateful if you could help me out here.

I already have a simple static site designed in XHTML and CSS. I just need a page to update some news with pictures now and again on a News Page, with only a registered user allowed access to this.

Is it possible to use WP to integrate its CMS for such a simple task?

Do I have to modify my site design in anyway to do this/ will it affect it?

I look forward to hearing from you. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

why not just put wp into a subdirectory under your site?

Thanks for the reply. Well, I dont want the site to have a blog feel to it, as it is a company website. I want the News Page to look like one of the other static pages but with dynamic functionality. Any ideas?

Also, if i do put WP in a different section, will I be able to modify the news page to look like part of my site (which I what I desire) or will I have to use a WP theme?

    Cheers!

If you wanna keep the look of your site you might have to convert your current look into a WP theme.

You have to be familiar with HTML/CSS for this, if you wanna see a very basic tutorial on how to achieve this, look at Aneko’s WP Theme creation here.

I have the same needs of saviomf – having a static site but want to add events calendar and photo albums on my HTML site where people other than me can edit and update. I am so new to WordPress (new as of yesterday).

I heard WordPress is not only a blog software but can also be CMS. I am just wondering how hard it is to convert the current look and feel into a WP theme… Do I *REALLY* have to convert it in order to have a calendar??
