For the footer, depends on your theme – what theme are you using.

well i was playing with the custom menu thing and i cant get it use a parent page to have drop downs and i could with the regular one that was with the theme.. im using the simple catch theme

Menus work fine on that theme – just tried it on a test site – unless perhaps you have a plugin that’s causing problems.

But before you do any more set-up, if you want to change the footer, you’ll need to do that in a Child Theme so that your changes are not overwritten and lost when the theme is updated.

Then you can modify the footer.php file in a copy of that file in the child theme.

A bit more on the menu – once you have added items to your menu, you drag/drop them under another item to create the drop-downs.

ok i guess im a little slow i see u can just use the drag and drop to create a sub page under the parent so ok i have the custom menu set up properly now and my terms of service page made.. now i just need to figure out where to place the reference in my footer php and how to align it etc

I think i have it like i want it now.. one other question that u may know.. how come theres a little space to the right of the menu is there anyway to get rid of that??
