Creating a new user hangs for over a minute.

Hi Guys

Everything seems to be working well, but when we try to create a new user, either by the admin panel or the normal registration page it hangs for over a minute before redirecting to the ‘succeeded’ page.

I have searched high and low, but no one else seems to have the same issue. So far my best guess is that it has something to do with the mailer timing out as there is no mail sent either.

As I usually look after the server end of things, I am not too familiar with wordpress, can someone tell me where the mail settings are configured?
