• hi, im trying to create a link on my sidebar that will enable users to login or register on the site. also, it would be nice if the login link changed to a “logout” link while a person is logged in.

the links can go to the standard login page, but it would be nice if the sidebar changed to include a username/pass field. sorry i hope im being descriptive enough.

    my website is https://www.squattheplanet.com/wordpress/

i know some of the templates already have this, but the one im using doesn’t, and im not quite sure how to go about adding it so that the “login” changes to “logout” when you’re logged in.

is this possible? i saw vauge references to adding a login link on the sidebar in the codex, but couldn’t find any specifics. any links or descriptive help would be very much appreciated. thanks!

thanks for the links, they worked great!

I have both of these on my sidebar. I see only ‘Login’ when I first access my site. I click it to login and all is fine (I don’t have to actually login, it takes me straight to the WP admin stuff). However, anytime I click the header at the top to return to my main page, the ‘Site Admin’ and ‘Logout’ links disappear, and I have just ‘Login’ again. I wish I didn’t even have to click to login, just have the ‘Site Admin’ link there when I bring up the page.

Does someone have an updated link for this. I am getting page can not be found. Would like to add these to my side bar.
    Thanks,
    Cathie

Okay, no one answered so maybe I will pose the question in another way.

Does anyone know how to do this. I have tried the link and all I am getting is Page can not be found.

Would like to add this to my site.

    Thank you,
    Cathie
