I am having trouble getting started. WP has been installed on my Just Host website. I have printed and read all of the initial documents re getting started, but I can’t seem to get started. I have ordered and am waiting on the arrival of a couple of WP how to books which hopefully explain the initial, first steps better than the online documentation.

I would like to start by creating just one page as a landing/home page, from which the rest of the structure I plan design will link, but I don’t have a clue even after reading the documentation.

If there is someone out there who is familure with Just Host and WP and can help with this first step, I would be greatly appreciative.

Thank you for the help, but when I meant FrontPage I was referring to the Microsoft application AND it’s use as an initial, landing page leading to following pages.

In preparation for the real work, I have created a base structure in MS FPage. I uploaded the index page just to have some initial content to play with the JustHost server. That much is now working OK at https://www.craftsmithgolf.com .

It would not crush my soul to be able to use this page and have it link to WP press for a blog and a forum. It would be much easier on me if I could use MS FPage for some static pages in the free golf instruction area of mysite. The larger goal is to use WordPress to create the dynamic pages in a premium, subscription area.

I hope this language is technically correct enough to communicate my general goals. Again, any and all help is appreciated.

Leaving FrontPage out of the equation, I would still recommend considering WordPress as the solution for the whole site. With the front page ability of WordPress you likely could accomplish what you need.

In addition, WordPress has plenty of restriction and membership type plugins that you might use.

I second your opinion on letting go of Front Page. That’s like playing golf with woods made out of wood.

My question is how to make my dynamic (not static) Products page the home page on my site. I tried to follow the instructions in the Reading section of Setting and BAAAAD things happened. I had to completely go back to an archived save of my site and start over.

This can’t be rocket science, but I’m be darned if I can see it.
