• I am trying to “move” a WP blog to a different hosting site (both hosts, old and new are Cpanel/MySql hosts).

At this point, I have created a fresh install using a different URL so both sites co-exist. How can I duplicate the content from the original to the new?

I’ve already copied themes and plugins, etc., so the container looks the same … how can I move the posts and such?

An earlier attempt was unsuccessful because (I think) the prefixes on the tables to be imported from the old site are different than what the new site uses.

Is there a way to do this sanely, w/o manually recreateing the posts and content???

    Jeff

  • Have you looked through Moving_WordPress ?

Or you can use the Manage_Export_SubPanel and Manage Import SubPanel to transfer posts and comments from one site to the other.

    Dashboard/Export:

When you click the button below WordPress will create an XML file for you to save to your computer.
This format, which we call WordPress eXtended RSS or WXR, will contain your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags.
Once you’ve saved the download file, you can use the Import function on another WordPress blog to import this blog.
