Creating a “Clearance Section” shop page

Hi there! I am trying to create a “clearance section” on my shop for the purpose of not having 50 items on my “regular” shop page. Is there a way to hide these items from the normal shop page but have them appear in a search still?

For example, I was trying to do a work around of hiding them from the “catalog” and only having them show up in search so they don’t appear on the main shop page. Then I was going to just place a link to the to the URL for the “clearance” product category, but it doesn’t allow them to show up because they’re hidden from the catalog. Is there a work around for this?
