creating a child theme for Twenty Fourteen

Hello, I am trying to install a child theme for WordPress Twenty Fourteen.
I put the code in my notepad, saved it and then zipped it. However, when I try to upload it, I get the following message.

Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

Theme install failed.

If anyone could help, I would really appreciate that.
