• I installed and activated the plugin. I created the following snippet:

    Title: calltoaction
Snippet: <div class=”calltoaction”>Email bj mann or call 585-234-8740 today for a free consultation!</div>

When I click on the button in either Visual or Text view when editing the page, nothing happens. No popup comes up — nothing.

When I manually put [calltoaction] in the page code, that’s exactly what shows, not the snippet above.

All I want to do is use this plugin to create “includes” with simple HTML code. I don’t know php.

I’m afraid that you’ve got the wrong plugin. This plugin is intended for you to write PHP code in the form of mini-plugins to run on your site, hence snippets. You want a plugin that accepts HTML snippets you can insert into your post. Global Content Blocks is one I’ve used in the past, but there are quite a few more if you do some searching around.
