    Hello,

I have set a variable product with 5 different attributes and in total around 20 terms e.g. colour (red, blue, green), size (20, 21, 22, 23) etc.

When i am in the process of “creating variations from all attributes” which i have increased to a maximum of 500 per run it takes a very long time to create each batch.

Is there a way to speed this up? i have looked online and then only topics i come across are regarding increasing the speed of loading page of product details in the front-end not the admin side of things where you setup these variations.

  • Hi there,

I checked this for you and found this post on creating the variations programattically.

I hope this points you in the right direction.

In addition to what Siew suggested,
I recommend reducing the amount of variations to a much smaller number. 500 is definitely high and I would not recommend using it.

Thank you for your replies. Would the server specs help if i raised the memory for example to speed up the process?

Unfortunately if i reduce the amount of variations it would take forever to finish.

That question is better aimed at your hosting provider although the bottleneck here isn’t the server memory as much as it’s a case of having to add 500 lines of product variations to the database – So if anything, the specs of the server hosting the database would need closer scrutiny.

Also bear in mind that having 500 variations loading on the front-end is making for tough user experience as the user would essentially need to work through *a lot* of options and might end up negatively affecting cart abandonments.
