create two urls pointing the same page

  • i have page under many parent pages, so the url looks like this sitename.com/parent1/subparent/mypage. I want this url sitename.com/mypage also to show the same page. I plan to promote this page and for SEO purpose. right now i have forwarded the short url to the actual page using plugin.

    i don’t want to create a duplicate page and due to the sitemap i can’t make mypage as parent. is there a way to rewrite or mask the the url to show the content fromt the long url

  • Either show the pages you don’t want to be indexed as noindex,nofollow through SEO plugin/ theme settings (if you have in your site) or use robots.txt file and list those URLs under Disallow:. That is the easiest and the best, though you can redirect the pages to any one URLs using other methods.

    As you like it. Strictly speaking, this is not a WordPress issue.

    i dont want to create duplicate page and i want to use the short url (old url) and long url (new page of same content)… the site runs on wordpress… i guess you get it now.

    i didn ask for duplicate content, if its for duplicate content with two pages/post. there is no issue at all. i want to point urls (new and old) to the same page.

    i did this using custom permalinks plugin.

    i have a page under some parent pages, so the url would be site.com/parent1/parent2/mypage. using the plugin i changed the url to site.com/mypage. Now i have short url for sub-page without having directory like url.
