Create test copy of site redirects to main site

  • I want to be able to experiment with a new theme without making live changes to the WordPress site unless/until the new theme works out.

    I made a backup of the files and of the database and restored them ALL (I’m thinking this was in error?) to a subdomain over top of a fresh install of WP in the sub-domain.

    If I login to WP on the sub-domain I get redirected to the main domain.
