Create Post Type and Hide Singular Posts
-
Hello,
I am wondering how you can create a custom post type but hide / not generate the singular post instances.
The use case here is that I am using a custom post type for an FAQ and only want them to exist within an accordion on a page so there’s no use for single post pages for each item.
I turned off “public” and while that removes the permalink part from the edit screen when you are on the “All” screen the “View” link is still there when you hover. I know for some clients that will cause confusion when they see an ugly page with hardly any content.
Is there a way to create custom post types without single pages existing for them?
Sure I can noindex them, make sure they aren’t linked anywhere or in the sitemap but while the “View” link appears, webmasters and site owners will still find it.
Maybe that could be removed in the next version to align with hiding the permalink on the edit post screen which has already been catered for.
Thanks in advance.
