• Hi,

The ultimate member plugin is causing an error with the create new user page. I have tried disabling all plugins apart from ultimate member and the problem still exists. (If I enable all plugins apart from Ultimate member I do not get the error).

I have tried debug and found nothing.

What happens is. I click ‘New User’ under the users tab. On the page the ‘show password’ button doesn’t work. If I fill out the fields and click to create new user it gives me the error: ERROR: Please enter a password

I’ve tried searching Google and your forum and can’t see anyone else with the same error.

Any help would be awesome. Thank you.

    Hi,

We’ve released version 1.3.54. Let me know if the update resolves the issue.

    Hi,

Updating the plugin didn’t fix the issue.

I am also having this same issue. No error for me though, but when a customer registers the registration email does not include their Password anymore. There are also issues with customers resetting their passwords and then neither the old or new password will work. I made a test account to check, and the same problems happened to that account.

I had this problem and it was related to the latest update using new e-mail templates.

WP does not send passwords anymore so you have to send users to the ‘reset password’ page where they can create their own.

You can use the {password_reset_link} tag for this in the mail templates.

I have same problem than jsharberhowell.
“The registration email does not include the Password anymore”.

In emergency I did what distopicus is proposing and sent an email to the new user with the reset link. But this is not a good solution as users will not understand why they have to re-enter their email and password!

Did WP change something (“WP does not send passwords anymore”) ?
Could UM come out with a fix ?

    Champ, please help!

Are you using customized e-mail templates? (i.e. Overwriting the e-mail html templates in your own theme.) If so, you have to update them to the new templates.

They no longer use the {login} tag to display a password. Instead they use the {password_reset_link} to send users to the reset-password page.

As far as I know this is as a result of new WP security standards. The templates have been updated in version 1.3.54.

Thanks for your help distopicus. I fully understand what you are saying.

I would still like to have the official word from UM as how it is working now and what to do. If this is due to 1.3.54 version, there should have been a warning and instructions issued by UM.

    Champ, are you listening ???

I’m not using any of the custom HTML templates. Its not the missing password that is the problem. its that reset passwords don’t work, and if a customer forgets their password they cant login. At the current moment, all new logins require a password generated by admins, then need to be emailed to new customer, and sometimes a password change will work for them, and sometimes it wont. This had been automated and working fine, up until the last update. Everything was fine a week ago…Im hoping UM will have a solution.

    Hi,

Just to update my problem that started this thread.

I was running Incapsula. Incapsula puts in a small pop-up ad in the bottom right corner of your site. It does this with javascript. The javascript was clashing with wordpress and causing the error.

So I’m removing the pop-up add.

Ok thanks for letting me know ??

Same issue here. WP is up to date (4.7.4 running Alpha Nexus – also latest version). Deactivated ALL plugins… no joy. Changed theme to 2017… no joy, changed back. Change theme to 2017 AND deactivated all plugin… no joy.

My add user screen does not look like the one in the documentation… no Password (required) or Repeat Password (required) fields. Just a “Show password” button that does nothing. Ignoring that and hitting Add User gives the error that started this thread. Is there an alternative way to add a user if this can’t be resolved?

Additional note: I am also unable to change or select a new password in the user management interface for existing users. This is true on a mac running 10.6.8 with a no-longer-supported chrome browser, as well as in Safari, and on a mac running El Capitan in Safari, so I don’t think it is a browser issue.
