Create new image map instructions incorrect

Using the latest version of the plugin. When I attempt to create a new image map, seems I have to:
a) Click “Publish” prior to being able to see any of the interface elements
b) Insert a title into the Title field
c) Click “Upload image” under the Image Map header
d) Click “Publish” again
e) Clicking on the image in the area I want my hotspots (or, anywhere on the image), results in no reponse whatsoever. No path is created. No area is outlined. Nothing occurs.
d) Dragging the grey rectangle with the red circle in the center to the image, I am able to drop the rectangle on the image, and then clicking on it, I can insert another image along with a title and description. No link area is provided. This does not seem very “image mappy” to me…It seems as if this plugin is completely broken, all of a sudden? I’m confused as to why everyone else is still able to use it. Am I missing something here?
