• Hello,

I wanted to create custom nav menus under appearance -> menus. The problem is, that with a few thousand sub-pages the list is too long to scroll and read every line –
and it does not find all the sites through the search (and with 20 different pages called fanlisting I also don’t know which one is the right one).

Is there any possibility to shorten the list to, let’s say depth 2 or reduce the search to words in the title of the page? Or search for the page ID (and maybe list it)? Or any other ideas?

    Thank you, Martina.

  • In Appearance → Menus, uncheck Automatically add new top-level pages and create a nicer menu ??

If I would be that far…I’m stuck on the way to add pages.

I create a new menu with menu settings WITHOUT that box checked, of course. Now I want to add my 5 top level pages from the left “Pages” window to that menu. I have “Most recent”, “View all” and “Search” there.

By 5 top level pages are not under Most recent. If I click “view all”, I have 21 pages of pages I can chose from, so I can’t find them here. If I click “Search” and search for…”Projects”, I get 10 pages to chose from, which also contain the word Projects somewhere in the text, but none of these 10 is the page titled “Projects” that I want.

    What’s your site URL?

Anyway, check your site and look for “Project” page. When you find ut, copy its URL. When you create the menu, use the Links tab(instead of Pages). Paste the URL and add Project as Link text. Don’t forget to save the menu.

I know, but that’s not very dynamic (imagine I move the pages).

    Thanks for your help anyway!

Link is johnny-depp.org, right now I’m displaying the page list automatically, but I will merge it with another site, which is why I need custom nav menus.
