Create image map with hotspots and tooltips on hover/click ?

I want to showcase screendesigns with annotations as rich-text tooltips when hovering or clicking certain zones on an image and all this in a responsive manner (markers on resized image stay on the same spot, tooltips position cleverly where space is available).

Your plugin in comparison has very deep and broad overall features regarding image presentation with good responsive support.

So before I invest a learning curve and the effort of building my assets with/for a particular plugin, I wanted to know my possibilities clearly.

Could you think of a way your plugin can achieve image map like functionality in a responsive matter? If so, please illustrate with words, or even better with imagery or a link to a demo. Thanks!
