    Hello,

I’m using the Twenty Twenty theme and trying to create a page that will list all posts, including the content of each post.
Currently, I can create a page with the Latest Posts block but the maximum number of posts that can be listed is 100.
I would like to create a posts page that does not have a post number limit, and will automatically include all posts, regardless if that exceeds 100.
Ideally, this full list of posts would appear over multiple pages as I would like to set the number of posts that appear per page, but that may be wishful thinking.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Cheers.

Hi @currentbay – your homepage is currently set as your posts page, so that’s where all your posts appear, in a paginated view. This view includes all posts, with no limit as to how many.

Ideally, this full list of posts would appear over multiple pages as I would like to set the number of posts that appear per page

You can set the number of posts per page under Settings > Reading > “Blog pages show at most.”

If you prefer to set a different page as your posts page (i.e. not the homepage) you can do that in the same Reading Settings page. Instead of “Your homepage displays: Your latest posts,” select “A static page” and pick the static page you’d like as your front page. Then, choose another page as your “Posts page,” and your paginated list of posts will appear there, instead of on the homepage.

Let me know how it goes!

    Thanks, Kathyrn.
I will try your suggestion on the weekend and report back.

    Hi Kathryn,

I did as you suggested and assigned a static homepage and a posts page.

The homepage uses an image block and a latest posts block (3 posts).

The posts page uses the same image block at the top of the page, but the view and edit functions for this page show two different pages.

When I use “View”, the page appears with all posts listed on one page but no image at the top. This is similar to the original default posts page.

When I choose “edit”, the image appears at the top but no posts are listed below the image.

I would prefer a posts page with an image at the top and all posts listed below.

I tried clearing the cache but no change.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @currentbay – I’m seeing a “404 not found” error on your homepage, which may mean that your assigned homepage is either deleted or still set to draft status.

Could you please double-check that, and go ahead and publish your selected homepage, and I’ll be glad to take another look when you let me know it’s ready.

    Hi Kathryn P.,

Sorry about that. Try it again when you have a chance. https://overpoetry.com/

Being able to insert an image block at the top of the page may be limitation of the posts page. Otherwise, the home page and posts page are set up as I hoped.

Thanks for any expertise you can offer.

    Cheers.

Hmm, you should be able to put an Image block above the Latest Posts block, as there are no limitations to the type of blocks that can go on a static page.

I do in fact see an image block at the top of the page, above your first post title:

Over Poetry Home To An Expanding Verse and Other Textual Spheres

Could you let me know whether you see that on your end? Are you expecting to see something different? Thanks!

    Hi Kathryn P.,

I do see that image on the static home page. That works as expected.

But I also added the same image/same location to the posts page.

The image does not appear when viewing the posts page normally. (Top image in link below.)

But when viewing the same page in Edit mode, the image block I added does appear at the top of the page, along with the posts page title, All Posts. (Bottom image in link above.)

Weird, but maybe normal for dedicated posts pages.

    Thanks.

Ah, thanks for clarifying you were looking at this page:

Indeed, the content of the automatically generated posts page in classic themes like Twenty Twenty cannot be modified. This page simply outputs blog posts in a predesigned layout, and you can’t add extra blocks to it.

If you’d like more flexibility with the display of the automatically generated posts page, you could look into using a block theme like Twenty Twenty-Two or Twenty Twenty-Three. Those use a newer system called Site Editing, which does let you modify the content and layout of the automatically generated posts page. You can learn more about the Site Editor here:

    Thanks, Kathryn P.,

Good advice. When I finish setting up my site, and eventually grow tired of the design, I’ll move to a block theme for the added flexibility, and less mystery.

    Thanks for all your help.

Sounds like a great plan, and you’re very welcome!
