Hi I installed the plugin, activated it, but when I click or hover over the events link in the dashboard it does not show me an option for “add new event” the only things that are in the dashboard menu are:

    Tags
    Settings
    Help
    Troubleshooting
    Event Add-Ons

I have been completely unable to actually add an event.

  • Hey @cemiller108

    Thank you for reaching out.
It sounds like something is interfering with our plugin (another plugin or your theme).

I would recommend going through our testing for conflict procedure to figure out who the culprit is ??

I am having the exact same problem. Followed your steps with no luck. Everything is also up to date.

I got it functioning. I basically disabled every other plugin I have, then changed the theme. Then reactivated The Events Calendar. Then I went through and reactivated the theme, and then the plugins one by one. I checked for continued function after each reactivation buy doing a hard refresh and then adding a test event and checking the events page on the site. All the plugins I originally used are reactivated and the Theme as well, and it seems it is working fine now.

Now If I can figure out how to add additional price lines to the events I’ll be sitting right where I need to be.

@kristtg have you tried switching to a default WordPress theme?
Provided you have a recent version of WordPress and PHP, you should be able to see the option to add Events ??

@cemiller108 good job figuring it out.

To add additional price lines (or anything really), you can use another plugin such as ACF (advanced custom fields) or our very own Events Calendar Pro add-on (that also provides you with a ton of other features).

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Yes I have disabled all of my plugins except for The Event Calendar and tried the 2021, 2020, and 2019 themes but still can’t get the option to add an event to show up. I’m on the latest version of WordPress and using PHP 7.4. I also purged the caches and file permissions were reset. I host with WP Engine if that helps.

Disable the calendar plugin as well, then purge all caches, and then reactivate it. That worked for me. If that doesn’t work, leave all other plugins deactivated, make sure the theme is changed as well to something else to verify it’s not a theme problem, then uninstall and reinstall the plugin. Reactivate it first to see if it work. If it does then reactivate your theme, check the calendar. Then, if it’s still working, go through the plugins one at a time and check the calendar for function after each is activated. If on of the plugins breaks it, then you know you have a problem.

I think I may have figured it out. If I install the plugin with my theme, divi, active then no matter what you do (deactivate other plugins or change to default theme) the plugin will not allow you to add an event. However, if I activate a default theme, install and activate this plugin, then I have the option to add the event even after I activate the third party theme I want to use, Divi. So I think I’m good now but hopefully this can be patched in a future update.

@cemiller108 kudos for finding a workaround and thank you for trying to help

@kristtg that is very surprising. The good news is that there is no known incompatibility with Divi.

I would suggest taking a look at the following:

    • Make sure you are not using the default permalinks structure (literally any other setting will work)
    • It’s possible that your plugin installation somehow was corrupted, deactivate, delete and reinstall the plugin from scratch
    • Make sure you are using an up to date version of Divi (not a child theme)
    • Update to the version we just released today

Let us know how that goes
