Create classes where students can check in?

I didn’t find this answer anywhere.
Is it possible for me to for example create a class (I am a bit confused, what exactly is a class, the way this word is being used here) and let students check in?

Example:

Every Tuesday, Optional German Class. 3-5pm. 12 open spots.
Every Tuesday, Optional German Class. 5-7pm. 10 open spots
(also define some instances, where the class will not be held, but most of the time, they happen every tuesday, so I would like to use a recurring feature and edit some exceptions)

Now students can see that in the calendar, click on it and just hit a “will attend” button. That’ll check them in, and the total of available spots will go down. (if they click again, they’ll be un-checked).

As a teacher, I can see how many students will attend on the early lesson, and how many will come on the later lesson.

Is this possible?
