    Hello all,

I am in need of your help. I am trying to create a second (or ever third in the future) post to page. I need to be able to choose what page I send a particular post to (instead of the front page).

I did some researching on the forums but couldn’t find a clear answer. I would like to know if there is a plugin or a workaround to do this.

Let me know if my question is not clear enough or you need me to give more info.

    Cheers,

  • You don’t really ‘post’ to a page.

But here’s one example you can try:
You can write a post, and designate particular categories for that post. Then if using the WordPress Default Theme, with no widgets configured, click on the visit site. Click on one of the categories presented in the sidebar and you will see all the posts in that category.

Man you think outside the box Michael.

But…you lost me. Why am I using the default theme?

Perhaps my question is worded improper?

I still want to be able to post ‘posts’ to the ‘home’ page…but sometimes I would like to put a post on a different static page like my ‘services’ page.

Perhaps what you were trying to explain to me was along those lines…but again you lost me.

I use the WordPress Default Theme only as example because that theme is delivered with WordPress so you can use that for testing if necessary.

But please just try what I mentioned just to get an idea of how the whole category thing works.

Also review this FAQ that is somewhat like you are wanting to do:
How can I have a static front page and posts display on a page called Blog?

MichaelH, i followed your advice to a T. it was perfect. ritchiem, have you started developing locally? if not, look into setting up wordpress on your “home” computer using MAMP (mac) or XAMP (windows) or ___ (not sure if lynux has such a utility).

if you’re already developing locally, do the following: perform 3 – 5 installs of wordpress. work your way through them at whatever pace is best. you might use one as a duplicate of your live site; another as a “plugins” practice area. another to practice “michaelH’s categorie’s vs pages vs posts activity.”

the worst that can happen is that one of your installs “breaks”. well, simply delete the database, and delete the entire set of wordpress files. delete your trash. eat a snack. repeat.

before you know it, it takes you 60 seconds to back up a blog. 60 seconds to install wordpress. 60 seconds to install the “5” [insert any number] plugins you can’t live without. 60 seconds to create a template for the static home page. 60 seconds to create a contact form. etc.
