  • Hi can you provide an example of what you are trying to achieve.

    Thank you

    Thank you for your response.
    I am creating ‘categories’ ‘sub-categories’ and ‘sub-sub-categories’.
In the response form, instead of a selection list of all items like under Churches/Religion:
    Animals & Pets
    Arts & Crafts
    Churches/Religion
    – Adventist
    – Anglican
    – AOG
    – Baptist
    – Catholic
    – Lutheran
    – Methodist
    – Weslyan
    – Other
    Clubs/Organisations
    Government & Politics
    Holidays & Travel
    Home & Garden
    Leisure & Entertainment
    Motoring
    My Gripes
    Shopping & Business
    Sports & Outdoor
    Other
    Uncategorised
I would like to have a selection list of the category and then a field sub-category for each of the relevant categories that opens only when the parent category is selected, similarly with sub-sub-categories.
So in the case of a category list:
    Animals & Pets
    Arts & Crafts
    Churches/Religion
    Clubs/Organisations
    Government & Politics
    Holidays & Travel
    Home & Garden
    Leisure & Entertainment
    Motoring
    My Gripes
    Shopping & Business
    Sports & Outdoor
    Other
    Uncategorised
There would be a sub-category selection list ‘churches-sub’
    – Adventist
    – Anglican
    – AOG
    – Baptist
    – Catholic
    – Lutheran
    – Methodist
    – Weslyan
    – Other
that opens only when ‘Churches/Religion’ is selected as a category.
    Similarly with sub-subs too.

Hi Cyril, have you tried using Select field type?

In this instance I am using ‘Select’ with the list of categories as I require a single selection. For a multiple selection I use the Select-multi, but the only way I can get specific selection of the sub and sub-sub categories is to list them in the one selection list with the category then the sub category and then the sub-sub category following each other which makes the list very cumbersome. What I would like to achieve is, if Churches/Religion is selected then a field of the sub-categories would open. In a case where sub-sub categories exist, that field selection would only open on the condition that the parent category and the child sub-category were already selected. If the category without a sub-category etc then they would remain hidden.
The result can be achieved, as I indicated, by making one big selection list with all categories, sub-categories and sub-subs grouped together, but very cumbersome. At 80 years plus my mind, reasoning and ability is not as lithesome as I would like.
    Regards
    Cyril

This plugin currently only allows you to use Select or Select-Multiple fields. Unfortunately currently it does not have the requirement you are trying to set up.

    You are most welcome ??
