    Hi,

We are in Australia using Woocommerce and Eway for payment. We want to add Stripe however when we try to connect Wocoommerce to the existing Stripe account (which is connected to our Xero account) instead it creates a duplicate Stripe account. How do we use the existing Stripe account?

We are not using Woocommerce payments?

    Thanks for your help,
    Karen

  • ?? hey @karenkisswpwebsites

From what I gather, you’re interested in utilizing an existing Stripe account, but you’re unsure if the WooPayments, or Stripe, plugin is active.

To clarify, it is not possible to use an existing Stripe account with WooPayments. We have a few more details in this page, but the basic answer remains the same. You can use the same email address for both accounts, however.

If you currently use our Stripe extension with a regular Stripe account and would like to switch to WooPayments, our guide to switching is what you’re looking for. If you’re unsure about which is best, our comparison guide may be of assistance.

I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions about this matter, or if we misinterpret your concern in any way. We will be happy to help you further.

In such case, it’ll be helpful to provide us with the site’s System Status Report (SSR), as exemplified here, also. Thank you.

    Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. I wasn’t clear enough.
We know the Stripe plugin is active, which is what we want.
We do not want Woocommerce Payments and that plugin is inactive.

When we try to connect Stripe with Woocommerce it always creates a new Stripe account whereas we want it to use the existing Stripe account which is already connected with Xero accounts.

    ?? hey @karenkisswpwebsites

Thank you for reaching back, clarifying things further. Indeed, Stripe version 7.9.3 can be found in the active plugin list.

When we try to connect Stripe with Woocommerce it always creates a new Stripe account whereas we want it to use the existing Stripe account which is already connected with Xero accounts.

For connecting an already existing Stripe account with the Stripe plugin, kindly follow the steps in the document, linked here, for your convenience.

    Hi Pepe,

That is the documentation we go through to connect to the Stripe account. However, when we get to stage to create or connect the Stripe account, the button ONLY says Create which creates a duplicate Stripe account. We do not have the option to connect with the existing account even though we are already signed into the Stripe account.

Why don’t we see the option to connect to the existing account?

    Thanks,
    Karen

    Hi @karenkisswpwebsites!

Thank you for reaching out back.

when we get to stage to create or connect the Stripe account, the button ONLY says Create which creates a duplicate Stripe account. We do not have the option to connect with the existing account even though we are already signed into the Stripe account.

Several reasons come to mind that could be causing this issue. Let’s try a few things to narrow it down and see if they help to solve it:

    1. Update the Stripe plugin to the latest version (8.0)
    2.  Deactivate / Reactivate the Stripe plugin to see if it solves the issue.
    3.  Try performing a conflict test by changing your theme back to Storefront, disabling all plugins except WooCommerce and Stripe, and then checking again if the issue persists. If it works, reconnect your plugins one by one until you find the one causing the issue. If you cannot perform a conflict test on your live site, we recommend creating a staging site using the WP Staging plugin. More on performing a conflict test here.

If you try these options and the issue persists, kindly share a copy of your Fatal Error Log, which you can find under WooCommerce > Status > Logs, to dive deeper into this. More about the Fatal Error Log here: https://woo.com/document/finding-php-error-logs/#woocommerce-fatal-errors-log

Let us know how it goes for you!
