Create 2-column Archive Page

I am new to WP and working on developing my first WP blog site. So bear with me.

I know HTML and a little CSS but php language is beyond me. Right now my archives page lists “Monthly” and “Categories” in one long bulleted list. (ToOverflowing.com/archives/) I would like to have Monthly on the left and Categories on the right. Can you help me with this coding???
