Crazy with too many redirects!

  • Hello, we are having an issue with too many redirects. I cannot seem to figure out how to diagnose whats really going on. The server support says its theme or a plugin based issue… but I have run through so many variations its not clear thats the issue. Also the front page seems to load okay but the login page wp-login.php will not load giving the too many redirects message. I am at my wits end and would appreciate whats the protocol to really nailing this down. The theme support tells me not their fault… but I think this might be the issue.

  • Hi Alison.,

    Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.
    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
