This was a legacy plugin from a previous site owner and on updating the plugin to the most recent version 3.1.8, this crashed our wordpress site with the “critical error” message displayed.

After identifying it was a recently updated plugin we went through them, deactivating them one by one and the Autooptimize plugin was the culprit. After disabling the plugin , our site returned to normal.

We reactivated it to check, and the critical error was shown again.

do you happen to have the copy of the critical error @eofdesign ? would be very interested in that, if only to ensure there’s no as of yet undiscovered bug in 3.1.8 which I just released!

in case the error was not shown on screen; you might have received an automated mail from your WordPress installation with technical details and if all else fails the PHP errorlog on your server should also have this info?

I just pushed out 3.1.8.1 which should fix the (stupid) bug, sorry for the inconvenience!
