Why didn’t you contact the plugin’s developer about this via the plugin’s dedicated sub-forum? You may have had a conflicting plugin or theme. Or you may have been using an older version of WordPress.

Posting a “review” without even trying to sort your problem out with the plugin’s authors is pretty pointless.

I developed Clever SEO Keywords and I am approachable. I’ve used this plugin for a few of my clients such as https://www.marketingmix.com.au, https://www.retechrubber.com.au, https://www.highburyhomes.com.au, https://www.mygenhomes.com.au, https://www.badtv.com.au and https://www.keyreturn.com.au. Retech Rubber rose from page 9 to page 2 in 3 weeks for keywords “Softfall Rubber” and I think for “Softfall Rubber Perth” its on page 1.

I admit that I’m not perfect, I do make quite a lot of mistakes, but I deploy my plugins to WordPress so that I can learn from you guys and I kind of like that sort of community.
