• We have had an issue recently with our sites CPU and Memory maxing out whenever a page is loaded. I’ve seen a few questions about this, but nothing I have found works. Prior to this the site was running fine for several months
    So far I have tried
    – Updating WP to the latest version.
    – Updated all our plugins
    – Removing unused plugins (We are using about 7 atm)
    – Optimizing the DB
    – Deactivating ALL plug ins.
    – Changing the theme to the basic one (TwentyEleven)
    – Reducing the number of posts shown per page to 5
Nothing has helped, and our hosts only response is to upgrade to a dedicated server, something that will push our monthly budget from $50 to $500, which is completely out of the question, especially when there is no guarantee that it will help with the issue.
The plugins I’m running at the moment are
    Cyclone Slider
    Disqus
    Fast Secure Contact Form
    JW Player Plugin for WordPress
    NextGEN Gallery
    Pods
    Simple Local Avatars
    Ultimate Post Type Manager

We are also using a network site, although this is the only site that people are accessing, as other the other sites are being developed

Anyone had any success with this issue?

  • How much data do you have on your site? How large is your database?

    Hi Scott
The database takes up about 8.11 MB, and there is about 240mb of actual site resources, including images etc

I should also note that the the memory sits at about 76kb when the site is inactive, and uses our 1 GB max whenever the pages are accessed.

    Who is your web host?

AussieHQ is our webhost, and we are using a shared environment

Australian hosting isn’t my area of expertise, but something definitely sounds off about what you’ve explained, I don’t think there’s an issue with your site.. especially only a 8MB large database.

    Thanks Scott
I’ll email them again and get them to have another look. At this point I can’t see anything that would be using a gig of ram on the site.
