Reusable templates seem to cause CPU spike and CPU usage remains high, as the page becomes unresponsive and have to reload the editor. Tried with wordpress default theme and greenshift theme. No pending new update for the themes and greenshift plugin. Happening on different PC and different browsers.

I am out of ideas what to try next. Any help please?

I installed Loom (chrome extension) as suggested in your linked page, but unfortunately, the video cannot be captured as the page becomes unresponsive after I added a few reusable template blocks. Loom extension crashed along with it.

Anyway, these are the steps I took on a fresh wordpress installation with only greenshift theme and plugin, updated to the latest.

    1) Create a new page.
    2) Click on the blue plus sign (toggle block inserter) next to wordpress icon on top-left.
    3) Click on the icon (Synced patterns) to the right of “Media”.
    4) Click on your reusable template saved here and it will appear in the editor.
    5) Click on the same reusable template a few times (4-5 times) to add it to the editor.
    6) CPU utilization will go up and the editor will crash to wordpress dashboard.

I also created resusable templates made from wordpress default blocks. Using the same 5 steps above, the editor did not crash to dashboard and the page remained responsive. This is done on a new page.

I guess it’s related to previous reported bug when you use use duplicated synced patterns. Right?

I am closing this, nearest release will have fix
