    Hi,

I had some issues with the WP installation so I backup the files and reinstalled WordPress manually. I Uploaded all plugins manually and some I chose to upload the latest versions. All worked fine except for Custom Post Types UI.

I had 2 post types set up. Faculty and Bulletin on our college website.

Now When I login to the dashboard and load CPT UI, it only says Add post types and there are no existing post types.

The post types are also not listed in the sidebar.

However, when I created the same post types, it says post type already exists and might cause conflicts.

You can see the ‘missing’ of post types and the error message here: https://www.govindadasacollege.edu.in/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/gdcwp-1.png

And yes, there is a page with a slug faculty which was created afterwards.

This link : https://www.govindadasacollege.edu.in/faculty/atul-bhat used to work earlier but now it gives a 404 error.

All the faculty posts are intact in the db. I just need to get the post type restored.

    What do I do?

Assuming the backup has the post type posts in question, you should be able to get them back once you re-register post types with the same slugs as before. The error you’re seeing there is some preventive measures we’ve added, to avoid potential conflicts between post types and pages with the same slug. Should be able to get around this temporarily by renaming your “Faculty” page to say “facultys” or similar, long enough to remove the conflict and then rename the page slug back to what it was. Biggest thing to keep in mind there is that you’ll have potential issues if you’re wanting your post type to have an archive as well, since WordPress won’t always know if you’re wanting the post type archive or the page of “faculty”

Hopefully you still have the posts in the post types though, that’d be my biggest concern overall here.
