Hello! For some reason my previously working /books archive page was working, but now since the 5.0.1 upgrade, it’s redirecting /books to /books/bound-by-honor (which is a single page). There are no redirects set up for this URL, there is nothing in the htaccess, there is nothing anywhere indicating that /books should ever redirect anywhere. it used to show a custom archive template, but now just redirects to that same book page no matter what I do.

The Classic Editor is running and is updated to the most current version (as of right now), the cache has been cleared, I even replaced the htaccess file entirely and cna’t find any reason for this.

    Help?

p.s. I also read in your sticky post that with Gutenberg it needs to be set to REST API, and I did that – I set that to true. Saved and cleared the cache again. Still is redirecting.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Some quick questions.

Your “books” bit is a post type you created? and “bound-by-blood” is one of the posts in that books post type? If you do have a “books” post type, have you made sure the “has archive” setting is set to true?

Do you have any pages that are also named “books” ?

WordPress does try to redirect on its own when it feels it’s found a match of what was probably intended, but it’s not a perfect situation by any means there.

“Has archive” is set. There is no page called “books”. Everything was totally fine until this last update. Very odd! It may be another plugin so I’m doing that dance right now. I’ll report back! ??

It has to do with Yoast/Gutenberg not renaming the slug and then assigning a redirect. It’s very odd, but hopefully it’ll get sorted. ??

Interesting, but good to know there’s open issues on both sides and they’re looking into it, and hopefully pretty soon.

Thanks for the feedback and followup Joelle.
