• Hi,

I was wondering if it’s possible to use cPanels ‘Password Protect Directories’ to password protect the /wordpress/ directory?

Does anyone know of any issues or problems this could cause? I have a blog integrated within an e-commerce site; so security is Very important to me.

    Thanks : )

    That shouldn’t cause any problems.

    Hello again,

In my cPanels latest visitors log I keep seeing my websites ip (my server) trying to access “/wordpress/wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron” The problem is that it’s trying to run it the time, sometimes 10+ times an hour – my wordpress only has cronjobs that run either once or twice a day. I only have the ‘Secure WordPress’ plugin installed, that’s it. I’m using the latest version of WordPress (3.0.4).

I suspect it’s trying to run so often because it keeps failing and re-trying? Could the cPanel password protection (as described in my previous post) on my /wordpress/ directory be the culprit – i.e it’s stopping the WP cronjobs from running?

    Thanks.
