• When I set up a child for the free WordPress theme “Cover WP” I get a pretty catastrophic error. The following occurs on https://localhost/wordpress:

    Warning: require_once(C:\XAMPP\xampp\htdocs\wordpress/wp-content/themes/cover-wp-child/theme-options.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\XAMPP\xampp\htdocs\wordpress\wp-content\themes\cover-wp\functions.php on line 3

    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'C:\XAMPP\xampp\htdocs\wordpress/wp-content/themes/cover-wp-child/theme-options.php' (include_path='.;C:\XAMPP\xampp\php\PEAR') in C:\XAMPP\xampp\htdocs\wordpress\wp-content\themes\cover-wp\functions.php on line 3

    and it is no longer possible even to log into the Dashboard to change themes because the Dashboard, too, tries to load the child theme with the same crash.

  • I also replied at my forum. The email address you left was not resolving. Here’s the solution:

    Open the file functions.php and on the third line, this one:

    require_once ( get_stylesheet_directory() . '/theme-options.php' );

    replace
    get_stylesheet_directory()
    with get_template_directory()

    This will get it fixed.

    Thank you for the fix. I’ll give it another try.
