It is my first time using the wordpress to deploy a website and i have been using the Neve theme.

I encountered a problem in setting the cover image. The illustration image I uploaded seems blurry both in desktop and mobile version (mobile is much worse though). Check out the hero background image in https://bbetterm1.com/

I have turned off all the image optimzation plugins and I have set jpeg-quality to 100 by add_filter. It seems there are two problems here (i am not certain):

    1. WordPress automatically compresses my uploaded images since the resolution of the uploaded cover images in the media library differs from the original images.
    2. Some responsive settings in the theme are not properly set because the mobile version is even worse than the desktop version.

I’d appreciate it if someone could help me figure out this problem. Thanks!

  • Hello @gregzeng,

    Thank you for using Neve!

If the image is still blurry, I would recommend directly uploading an image with the appropriate width/height ratio, so the resize is more smooth. Besides this, it would be worth trying to use a different image extension (like jpg, svg), which is more fit for this kind of illustrations.

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,

    Irinel
