Cover block. How change the image size proportions?

In my old site I used Elementor page builder. Now I’m making a new site using only block editor. I’m surprised how good block editor is.

I have an issue.

In my old site (using Elementor) I displayed categories on the homepage like this:

Now I’m trying to achieve the same with block editor. I used 2 columns and added 2 cover blocks. It’s possible to add text and button. The problem is the aspect ratio. It looks like:

I would like the aspect ratio in the cover blocks to be 2:1 (e.g 555:278px). Is there any way to change the aspect ratio on the cover block?

f I use a 2-column and add image blocks, then the ratio is just like I want. The problem is that it’s not possible to add text and button top of the image blocks.

Any suggestion how to solve the problem?
